The Problem

You Know What Responsible Leadership Looks Like.
Getting There Is Another Conversation.

You have spent years building expertise, earning authority, and developing a clear sense of what good leadership actually looks like. You care deeply about the people affected by what you build. You think about consequences that stretch well beyond the quarterly cycle.

And most days, the speed of the work makes it genuinely hard to act on any of that.

Our 2026 pilot study with 25 senior leaders across AI, consulting, academia, and social impact found that the gap almost everyone feels is surprisingly consistent. Leaders across every sector hold strong ethical values. What they lack are the structures, the practices, and the peer community that would allow them to act on those values with the same consistency they bring to everything else.

The Responsible AI Leadership Retreat exists to help close that gap.

The stakes are not abstract. Decisions about AI systems that will affect more than a billion people are being made every day by leaders who have strong values but no structural support for acting on them — no time, no shared language, no peer community, no practice. This retreat, and the community it anchors, exists to build that missing infrastructure: the ethical decision-making capacity, governance fluency, and long-view judgment that responsible AI development depends on. This includes the ability to navigate AI safety, governance and compliance requirements — and, crucially, to translate them into decisions that hold up in practice. Why This Work, Here

Why India

India is where the future of AI will be decided at population scale. It holds the world's second-largest AI talent pool and one of its fastest-growing developer bases. The products designed and governed by Indian technology leaders are deployed across the Global South — which means the judgment of a single senior leader here compounds across hundreds of millions of users.

India is also where AI meets population-scale public systems first. Identity, payments, health, and welfare infrastructure serving over a billion people is being rebuilt with AI in the loop. The decisions being made upstream today — in product scope, in data practices, in what gets optimised — will shape outcomes for more people than in any other single market.

And yet the responsible AI infrastructure has not kept pace. The United States and Europe have a dense ecosystem of AI safety institutes, governance fellowships, and leadership programmes. India has world-class builders and almost none of that support structure. This is a high-importance, highly neglected gap — and a tractable one. Building the ethical leadership capacity of the people already making these decisions is among the highest-leverage investments available in responsible and safe AI today.

The Experience

Five Days of Work That
Actually Changes Something

The Responsible Leadership AI Retreat brings together 20 senior leaders for five days of deep, structured work in Goa is built around three pillars that mirror the real shape of responsible leadership in the AI era — the inner work, the design work, and the long-view work.

Each pillar draws on a distinct set of methodologies, brought by facilitators who have spent years developing and applying them. You will leave with concrete tools, individual maps built from your own professional context, a personal AI readiness assessment, and a cohort of peers who have done the same work alongside you.

Methodologies — InnerGuidance Method · Design and Systems Thinking · AI Governance Frameworks · Futures Scoping

Responsible Mindset

Responsible leadership starts from the inside. How clearly you see yourself. How steadily you can hold your values under pressure. How much access you have to your own judgment when everything around you is moving fast.

This pillar works with the InnerGuidance Method — drawing from modern communication science, somatic awareness, and contemplative wisdom traditions — to help you develop relational intelligence, embodied clarity, and the courage to lead from your actual values rather than the version of yourself your institution expects.

The Goa environment is an intentional part of this work. Guided reflection in nature, morning practices on the land, and evening conversations that the setting makes possible.

You will leave with
  • The capacity to pause, read a situation clearly, and choose actions that honour human dignity
  • The courage to act on those choices in rooms where it takes real strength
  • Your individual Somatic and Relational Intelligence Profile

Responsible Tech

The most consequential decisions in an AI organisation are made upstream — in product scope, in dataset selection, in the metrics a model is trained to optimise. By the time those decisions reach a governance review, the architecture is already set.

This pillar uses Design Thinking and Systems Thinking frameworks alongside established AI governance and safety frameworks to help you get present in the decisions that actually shape outcomes. You will work with real use cases from your own organisation, in small groups with practitioners who have done this work at scale.

You will leave with
  • A Responsible AI System Map from one real use case in your work
  • Design principles you can defend technically and ethically
  • A shared language for naming and challenging irresponsible decisions in the rooms where they are made
  • Practical tools to operationalise responsible and safe AI without slowing the pace of your work including frameworks for AI safety evaluation and regulatory compliance (EU AI Act, India's emerging AI governance guidelines, sector-specific standards)

Responsible Futures

Every organisation is building a future — in its data practices, its product decisions, its incentive structures, and the assumptions embedded in how it measures success. This pillar uses Futures Scoping methodology to help you see that future clearly, map its consequences — for people, for society, and for long-term sustainability — and develop the strategic language and personal authority to shape it with intention.

The work is applied directly to your organisational context and built collaboratively with your cohort, so the scenarios you leave with are grounded in real decisions you will face.

You will leave with
  • A Responsible Futures Map for your organisation or domain
  • Shared scenarios built directly from your strategic context
  • The language to argue for long-term responsibility in rooms driven by short-term pressure
  • A clearer sense of where your professional authority and personal purpose meet

Your Individual Output

Leave with a Clear Picture
of Where You Stand

Before the retreat, every participant completes a structured pre-work assessment. Over the five days, your facilitators build on this alongside what emerges in the room.

At the close of the retreat, each participant receives a personal AI Readiness Report — a structured, individual assessment of how your purpose, your people leadership, and the products you shape are currently positioned on the journey toward responsible AI.

This is not a score or a ranking. It is a clear-eyed picture of where genuine readiness exists, where the gaps are, and where the highest-leverage opportunities for change sit in your specific context. The report also anchors how we measure impact — a structured baseline before the retreat, an individual assessment at its close, and three months of tracked integration after it.

01

Purpose Readiness

How well your stated mission and personal leadership values are reflected in the AI decisions being made in your organisation. Where clarity exists, and where the gap between aspiration and practice is widest.

02

People Readiness

How prepared your teams are to build and govern AI responsibly — their awareness, their capacity for ethical judgment, and the relational infrastructure that makes speaking up possible.

03

Product Readiness

How the systems, products, and processes you oversee reflect the principles of responsible AI — in design, in safety testing, in regulatory compliance, and in the accountability structures around them.

"The report is prepared by your facilitation team and shared privately. It is yours to use as a working document, not a public assessment."

The Programme

A Day in the Retreat

Each day in Goa follows a deliberate rhythm. Mornings carry the stillness that deep work needs. Afternoons move into collaborative and applied sessions. Evenings are held lightly — for reflection, for conversation, and for the kind of connection that only happens when people are genuinely present together in a beautiful place.

01 Day One

Arrival and Orientation

You arrive in Goa and the work begins gently. Opening ceremony, cohort introductions, and a shared first conversation about what each person is carrying into the week. A slow dinner overlooking the paddy fields as the sun goes down — the first evening of what most participants describe as a week that felt different from the first night.

02 Day Two

Responsible Mindset

Morning somatic and reflective practice in nature, drawing on the InnerGuidance Method. Facilitated sessions on leadership identity, inner clarity, and discernment. Afternoon work in small groups on the ethical judgment scenarios most present for each participant. Guided practice at dusk.

03 Day Three

Responsible Tech

Design and Systems Thinking workshop applied to AI governance. Each participant maps a real use case from their own work through an ethical design lens, using AI Governance frameworks. Peer challenge sessions in the afternoon. The evening is open — Goa at night does the rest.

04 Day Four

Responsible Futures

Futures Scoping methodology, applied to each participant's organisational context. Scenario building in small groups. Stress-testing strategic decisions against the futures you are collectively building. Community dinner and a conversation that tends to go late.

05 Day Five

Integration and What Comes Next

The morning is for integration — drawing threads together, building personal leadership commitments, and pairing with a cohort peer for ongoing accountability. Each participant receives their individual AI Readiness Report. Closing ceremony. Departure breakfast. The conversation that continues after you leave.

Who Leads It

Meet the Facilitators

Each facilitator brings years of practice at the intersection of AI, leadership, and what it actually takes to build responsibly. They are practitioners, researchers, and builders — and they are as interested in the hard questions as the people who attend.

Is This For You?

Who This Retreat Is For

This is for you if

  • You are at Director level or above, with genuine influence over AI strategy, product decisions, or organisational direction — the kind of influence where your choices compound.
  • You feel the weight of what you are building. Not as anxiety to manage, but as a real sense of responsibility for the people and systems your decisions touch.
  • You hold strong values around responsible AI and you are looking for the practical conditions, the methodology, and the peer community to act on them more consistently.
  • You want to develop somatic and relational intelligence alongside strategic frameworks — the human capacities that make responsible leadership possible in practice, not just in principle.
  • You want to be the person in the room who can name what is going wrong, hold the tension, and have the standing and the skill to move things differently.
  • You are ready to give five uninterrupted days to this work. Fully present — phone down, calendar cleared, genuinely here.
  • You know that responsible AI matters, and you are honest with yourself that you do not yet have a coherent way to embed it in your daily work. That is exactly what this is for.

This is a strong fit when

  • You have eight or more years of leadership experience and you are operating at a level where your decisions shape not just your team but the broader direction of what your organisation builds.
  • You are genuinely curious about the people and communities affected by what you build, alongside the systems and technologies themselves.
  • You can commit to five full days in Goa in October 2026 — including the pre-retreat preparation work and the post-retreat integration calls.
  • You are open to working with your body and your inner life alongside your intellect. The methodologies we use are whole-person.

Beyond the Retreat

Building Asia's Leading Community of Responsible AI Leaders

The retreat cohort is the beginning.

Every participant joins a growing network of senior leaders across Asia who are doing this work seriously — not as a brand position, but as a genuine practice. Leaders who are carrying the same questions, navigating the same pressures, and building the same commitment to AI safety, tech for good, and leading responsibly in the AI era.

This community is being built with intention. It is research-backed, action-oriented, and rooted in the same three-pillar framework that structures the retreat. Members share real cases, challenge each other's thinking, and support each other in holding the line when the institutional headwinds are strongest.

We are building Asia's leading community of senior leaders committed to responsible and safe AI — research-backed, action-oriented, and growing with every cohort. If you believe that how we lead AI matters as much as what we build with it, this is where that conversation is happening.

Fund the leaders the ecosystem cannot yet pay for

The leaders whose AI decisions carry the highest public stakes — in government, public-interest technology, journalism, and civil society across India and the Global South — are often the least able to fund their own development. Philanthropic and corporate partners close that gap.

Partnership can take several forms: sponsoring fellowship seats for public-interest, policy, and nonprofit leaders; underwriting a subsidised cohort; supporting the expansion of the Responsible Leadership Gap research beyond its pilot phase; or co-developing programming in AI safety, governance, and tech-for-good leadership.

Every funded seat is measured. Each participant completes a structured baseline assessment before the retreat, receives an individual AI Readiness Report across purpose, people, and product readiness, and is tracked through three months of post-retreat integration — giving partners a clear, evidence-based picture of the change their support created.

If you fund work in AI safety, responsible technology, or leadership for sustainable development, we would welcome the conversation.

Our Research

The Responsible Leadership
Gap Report

Most leaders in our study are clear about what responsible leadership looks like. They believe in it. They would choose people over efficiency, ethics over expedience, long-term thinking over short-term gain — given the chance.

The gap is structural. It lives between what leaders believe in private and what their organisations make possible in practice.

Our pilot study with 25 senior leaders across AI, consulting, academia, and social impact mapped that gap in detail. The findings are specific, grounded in real voices, and directly relevant to anyone leading in the AI era.

What is inside

  • The Three-Layer Gap Model — how external pressure, internal erosion, and structural absence work together to produce the coherence crisis leaders feel
  • Five named gaps, with data and direct leader voices from across the global study
  • Three additions written specifically for AI leaders: a decision-speed taxonomy, the responsible-by-design framework, and an honest account of what the gap is actually costing organisations
  • Practitioner implications grounded directly in what the data shows — things you can act on this week

Questions

Frequently Asked

The retreat covers all facilitated sessions across five days, four nights of accommodation at a curated retreat property in Goa, all meals from arrival dinner through departure breakfast, pre-retreat preparation materials and onboarding, your individual AI Readiness Report, and three months of post-retreat group integration calls with the facilitation team.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and we aim to respond within five business days. Shortlisted applicants are invited to a 20-minute discovery call before a final place is confirmed. We curate the cohort carefully — looking for diversity of sector, geography, and perspective, and for people who are genuinely ready to engage with both the inner and outer work.
The retreat is for senior leaders who are actively involved in the design, deployment, or governance of AI — a description that spans technology, consulting, policy, media, social impact, and beyond. What matters most is the level of real influence you carry, the genuine weight you feel about AI's consequences, and your readiness to do something about it.
Somatic intelligence is the capacity to read situations through the body as well as the mind — to notice what a room is actually doing, to sense where a decision is pulling you before you have fully articulated why. Relational intelligence is the capacity to connect, to hold space for complexity in others, and to lead in ways that build rather than erode trust. Both are directly relevant to anyone responsible for AI systems that affect people's lives. They are also the capacities most systematically stripped out by the speed and pressure of modern organisational life. The retreat builds them back in.
Each participant receives a personal AI Readiness Report at the close of the retreat. It is an individual assessment — prepared by your facilitation team over the five days — of where your purpose, your people leadership, and the products you shape are currently positioned on the journey toward responsible AI. It gives you a clear picture of where genuine readiness exists, where the gaps are, and where the highest-leverage opportunities for change sit in your specific context. It is yours to use privately, as a working document.
A full refund is available up to 60 days before the retreat. Between 60 and 30 days, a 50% credit is available toward a future cohort. Inside 30 days, the fee is non-refundable and transferable to a colleague.
Flights to Goa are not included. Full arrival guidance, accommodation details, and logistics are shared with confirmed participants. We coordinate group airport transfers from Manohar International Airport (MOPA) and Goa International Airport (Dabolim) on both arrival and departure days.
The retreat is a structured immersion: facilitated deep work, peer dialogue, somatic and reflective practice, and the kind of thinking that a two-hour session or a keynote cannot hold. The cohort of 20 is designed deliberately — for the quality of conversation that only happens when the room is the right size and everyone in it is genuinely committed to the work. Most participants say the cohort itself is as valuable as anything on the programme.
